The Necessaries

Description: Alice Liddell is 19 years old with a small, thin frame. Due in part to malnutrition and a teenagerhood spent in a catatonic state, her skin is a sickly color and she is significantly shorter than most other women. Her brown hair is cut ragged, still regrowing after it was shaved off at the asylum, and there are often dark circles around her bright green eyes. She has burn scars on her back, shoulders, the back of her legs, and the upper portions of her arms. In Wonderland these scars are missing and her face has a fuller, healthier complexion. Alice speaks with a light, upper class English accent that demonstrates her educated upbringing.

Personality: Alice's current personality is heavily influenced by the trauma of the fire and the asylum. She is cold and often apathetic to the needs of others if they don't directly involve her. There is some small part of her that retains a hint of softness and a need for justice, but it is heavily buried below layers of scar tissue. To accomplish her ends she will resort to surprisingly brutality.

Her trauma has left her with a very unique type of madness. On occasion Alice will find herself lapsing into Wonderland. In the real world this is expressed either by passing out or wandering around in a babbling daze while occasionally engaging in property destruction. Inside her mind she an intense fantasy world she formed as a child. Wonderland changes as Alice's psyche changes, and has gone from an idyllic world of nonsense to a warped, dangerous landscape filled with deformed monstrosities. While Alice recognizes that Wonderland is no more than a mental construct the danger is no less real. Victories over her enemies equate to triumphs over her mental barriers, while failures bring her one step further down the winding stair to total insanity. Her recent defeat of the Dollmaker has slightly stabilized Wonderland and cleansed it of the outside corrupting influences, but it will never return to how it was.

Alice's trips to Wonderland has left her near-immune to bizarre situations. She takes things as they come, usually with an inappropriate calm or a snide remark. No matter how strange her surroundings she takes a straightforward, practical approach to whatever situation is put before her. If she feels fear she rarely acknowledges it, though rage is a different matter entirely. Reminders of the fire, such as intense heat and the scent of smoke, do unsettle her but do not render her helpless.

Alice has a fondness for cats and is protective of children, perhaps as an attempt to cope with her own lost childhood.

Abilities: [Note: In Wonderland her abilities are drastically increased, but it's not noteworthy unless you happen to be roaming around in her head.] Alice's preferred weapon is the knife. She has some skill and no qualms about using it, lacking the squeamish instincts held by most sane people. For her size she's fairly strong, especially in the grip of one of her "hysterical" psychotic breaks.
